El mítico guerrillero leonés Manuel Girón Bazán es el protagonista de El monte o la muerte, una narración rigurosamente documentada que recupera la memoria de una época polémica de nuestra Historia más reciente. Los ensayos que conforman este volumen, han sido organizados a partir de cuatro ejes problemáticos.
